About the Role

  • The Store Manager is responsible for protecting and growing the store’s profitability and market share
  • Lead all store operations in alignment with company and divisional strategies
  • Drive sales performance, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with at least 3 years retail management experience, or 5 years related experience
  • Strong business acumen and leadership ability
  • Computer literacy and solid administrative skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure
  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport preferred
  • Must have a personal mobile phone
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (OHSA)
  • Strong Human Resource management skills
  • High attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Management

  • Develop and implement a store strategy aligned with divisional objectives
  • Manage execution of strategic initiatives to achieve business goals

Grow and Protect Market Share

  • Drive sales growth, transactions, and profitability in line with targets
  • Achieve budgeted sales and growth objectives
  • Promote customer loyalty programmes and third-party credit solutions
  • Develop action plans to remain competitive in the market
  • Implement and update store business plans as required

Customer Service

  • Implement and monitor customer service strategies
  • Ensure efficient delivery services in line with company standards
  • Build and maintain a strong customer base, including VIC and charge card clients
  • Recommend product range improvements based on market needs

Asset Control

  • Manage and control stock losses and shrinkage
  • Safeguard store assets including cash, stock, and equipment
  • Oversee debtor management within the store
  • Assess and improve store security measures

Business Trade Licenses

  • Ensure all trade licences are valid and renewed on time where applicable

Human Resource Management

  • Manage staffing requirements in line with business needs
  • Implement succession planning and career development
  • Maintain effective communication with employees and forums
  • Ensure training and development programmes are in place
  • Handle employee relations professionally

Maintaining Store Standards

  • Conduct daily store inspections and floor walks
  • Implement corrective action plans where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures
  • Maintain high housekeeping and merchandising standards
  • Ensure the store is always ready for business
  • Maintain store infrastructure, lighting, and fixtures

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock ordering and receiving processes follow company policy
  • Manage damaged, obsolete, and slow-moving stock effectively
  • Implement action plans for excess stock

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Complete required safety checklists
  • Appoint and manage safety representatives
  • Investigate and report all safety incidents

Expense Management

  • Manage store expenses within budget
  • Ensure financial targets and benchmarks are achieved

Insurance Claims Administration

  • Report incidents to insurers promptly
  • Liaise with insurers regarding claims
  • Submit all required documentation accurately

Management of CB Way

  • Implement and maintain company policies, controls, and operational standards
