Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Casual Cashier to join the team and support point-of-sale operations. The role is focused on delivering excellent customer service while accurately processing transactions in line with company policies and standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure efficiency, accuracy, and a secure retail environment at all times.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• At least 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Strong numerical ability
• Good command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Job Specification

• Follow all customer service policies and procedures
• Maintain professional and friendly relationships with customers
• Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management
• Meet required transaction turnaround times
• Stay updated on current promotions and sales
• Ensure a safe environment for customers and staff
• Apply company communication standards consistently
• Manage and control cash flow responsibly
• Ensure all voids and price changes are authorised by a supervisor
• Process returns and merchandise exchanges when approved
• Accurately process all forms of payment including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Handle loyalty and rewards programme transactions
• Secure cash according to standard operating procedures
• Protect access codes and maintain confidentiality
• Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the till
• Safeguard all cash within the till at all times
• Handle daily takings confidentially and report only to management
• Identify and report any suspicious behaviour
• Assist customers with product-related queries
• Adhere to all security policies and procedures
