About the Role
The Store Manager is responsible for driving and protecting profitable market share within the store, ensuring alignment with company, divisional, and store strategies. This role focuses on delivering strong operational performance, excellent customer service, and effective team leadership.
Requirements
- Grade 12 with at least 3 years of retail management experience or 5 years’ relevant experience
- Strong business acumen and decision-making ability
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure
- Basic computer literacy
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport preferred
- Own mobile phone required
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (OHSA or relevant legislation)
- Solid Human Resource Management experience
- High attention to detail
Key Performance Areas
Strategic Management
- Develop and execute a store strategy aligned with divisional objectives
- Implement strategic initiatives to drive growth and performance
Grow and Protect Market Share
- Increase sales, transactions, and overall market share
- Achieve budget targets and growth objectives
- Promote customer loyalty programs and credit solutions
- Develop action plans to counter competitor activity
- Ensure store business plans are regularly updated and implemented
Customer Service
- Implement and monitor customer service strategies
- Maintain efficient delivery services in line with company policies

Asset Control
- Manage and reduce stock loss in line with company policy
- Safeguard all store assets including cash and stock
- Oversee debtor management
- Evaluate and improve store security measures
Business Trade Licenses
- Ensure all required trade licenses are valid and renewed on time
Human Resource Management
- Manage staffing levels according to business needs
- Drive succession planning and career development
- Maintain strong employee relations and communication
- Ensure ongoing training and development initiatives
Maintaining Store Standards
- Conduct daily store inspections
- Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures
- Maintain cleanliness, merchandising, and operational readiness
- Ensure store infrastructure and equipment are well maintained
Stock Management
- Ensure accurate ordering and receiving of stock
- Manage damaged, obsolete, and slow-moving stock effectively
- Implement action plans to manage excess stock
Store Safety (OHSA) Standards
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legislation
- Complete all required safety checklists
- Appoint safety representatives as required
- Investigate and report incidents
Expense Management
- Control store expenses in line with financial targets
- Manage store performance against financial benchmarks
Insurance Claims Administration
- Report incidents to insurers
- Liaise with insurers regarding claims
- Submit required documentation accurately and on time
Management of CB Way
- Implement and maintain operational standards and controls in line with company practices
