Role Purpose

The Sanlam Financial Adviser provides professional and relevant financial advice, planning, and products to new and existing clients. This role focuses on acquiring sustainable, high-quality business, maintaining long-term client relationships, and delivering ongoing advice and sales in a compliant and ethical manner that strengthens the Sanlam brand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grow the Sanlam Adviser Business

  • Commit to marketing plans and targets set by the distribution strategy.
  • Apply knowledge of market segmentation and client profiles to drive sales and growth.
  • Achieve targets related to revenue generation (single and recurring premiums), activity quotas, and promoting the Sanlam brand.
  • Ensure all client engagements are aligned with Treating Customers Fairly principles.

2. Networking, Prospecting & Lead Generation

  • Build business opportunities through face-to-face interactions, social or business networks, associations, and presentations.
  • Convert trusted relationships into business relationships.
  • Strengthen existing relationships by enhancing service levels.
  • Identify marketing gaps and sales opportunities within the middle-high and affluent client segments.
  • Conduct client-focused campaigns and request ongoing leads and referrals.
  • Monitor client activities such as maturities, cancellations, or surrenders.
  • Utilise social media and existing client bases to generate leads.

3. Client Consultations & Sales

  • Conduct comprehensive fact-finding and financial needs analysis using relevant tools and systems.
  • Provide sound personal financial planning advice and create balanced portfolio solutions.
  • Present solutions professionally while adhering to compliance and Treating Customers Fairly standards.
  • Review client portfolios annually and update records using system tools.

4. Client Service

  • Ensure all client interactions are ethical, courteous, and professional.
  • Follow up on queries promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Deliver value-added service to maintain client loyalty and prevent attrition.
  • Maintain long-term client relationships and a relational focus.
  • Continuously update knowledge of market and industry developments to provide effective service.

5. Monitoring, Updates & Reporting

  • Document and report contacts, appointments, consultations, issued business, and revenue against targets.
  • Maintain accurate client records and workflow entries.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • FAIS “Fit and Proper” requirements and Regulatory Examination successfully completed if registered with the FSCA for over 24 months
