About the Role

The Marketing Director is responsible for driving the growth and development of the Bakeries business unit by leading marketing strategy across a diverse portfolio of brands. This role focuses on building strong national brands while aligning with regional market dynamics, ensuring strategic coherence, and maximizing synergies across all offerings. The position requires strong leadership, innovation, and the ability to translate business objectives into impactful marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Brand Development

  • Lead brand development and execute category growth strategies across all brands and sub-categories
  • Define and drive the long-term portfolio, pricing, and category strategies in alignment with business leadership
  • Translate Annual Operating Plans into effective marketing strategies, campaigns, and activation plans
  • Build and strengthen brand equity, market share, and successful brand extensions in collaboration with Commercialisation and R&D teams
  • Align brand calendars with go-to-market and digital transformation initiatives

Marketing Execution & Innovation

  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies across all media channels
  • Drive innovation pipelines to ensure continued growth and market relevance
  • Enhance consumer engagement through data-driven insights and targeted platforms
  • Improve marketing investment efficiency through strategic partnerships and proven activation models
  • Lead execution of innovation initiatives and brand campaigns in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Business Performance & Growth

  • Set and deliver strategic commercial plans aligned with Category and Marketing leadership
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability targets across the portfolio
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators including brand health, loyalty, and market share
  • Support delivery of Annual Operating Plans and ensure alignment with long-term growth objectives
  • Provide insights and assumptions to guide long-term brand and category growth

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing marketing teams
  • Manage relationships with external agencies including creative, digital, and media partners
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple functions to ensure alignment and execution excellence
  • Operate effectively within a matrix organization, influencing senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in brand marketing, preferably within FMCG
  • Honours degree in Marketing, Business Management, or Economics with a marketing focus; a Master’s degree is advantageous
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful marketing strategies across multiple channels
  • Strong experience in managing agency relationships and delivering integrated campaigns
  • Demonstrated success in portfolio and brand management
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing large teams
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to deliver business results
  • Expertise in brand positioning, integrated communications, and consumer engagement strategies
  • Experience in digital marketing and programmatic media
  • Strong innovation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders in a matrix environment
