Job Description
Truworths Careers is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Developer (BI/DW) to join our Business Intelligence team. This role focuses on developing, enhancing, and maintaining data warehouses that support modern Business Intelligence standards. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders and team members to design, implement, and deliver actionable business insights across multiple business units.
This position is ideal for individuals who value accountability, reliability, and sustained performance while contributing to the growth and innovation of BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical data solutions
- Apply practical experience in the Data Warehouse Life Cycle
- Participate in architectural forums and contribute to BI strategy
- Develop and maintain data models (Dimensional, Multi-dimensional, and Relational)
- Design and implement ETL architecture and processes
- Automate processes and contribute to architecture improvements
- Write PL/SQL code and scripts for data integration and ad-hoc queries
- Integrate data between legacy and modern systems
- Provide batch processing support, scheduling, and monitoring
- Document technical requirements and maintain Agile documentation standards
- Participate in design, peer, and code reviews
- Offer daily technical, functional, and operational support for BI solutions
- Contribute to migrating architecture to modern on-premise and/or cloud platforms
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc or BCom in Information Systems, IT/IS diploma, or equivalent experience in Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data warehousing and/or ETL environment
- Strong experience in data and report modelling
- Familiarity with retail systems is advantageous
- Experience with batch processing and scheduling
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with business users
- Experience documenting technical requirements from business briefs
