General Assistant Internal – Cashbuild Vacancies

About the Role

The General Assistant Internal is responsible for delivering excellent customer service within the store while ensuring proper merchandising, accurate shelf pricing, and maintaining high housekeeping standards in the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least 1 year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 with no experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Basic numerical skills with accurate calculation ability
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Assist customers with product selection and provide accurate information
  • Address and resolve customer queries and complaints professionally

Merchandising Standards

  • Ensure bulk stock is displayed safely and according to store layout
  • Maintain full merchandising of the assigned area in line with planograms

Housekeeping

  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Ensure stock is packed and displayed immediately after receiving
  • Maintain clear aisles for safe customer movement
  • Ensure accurate shelf price labeling in the designated area
  • Complete required checklists, including canteen and facility schedules

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment where required
  • Ensure stock is packed and stored safely for both customers and staff
  • Report any safety concerns or hazards to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Control

  • Identify and report damaged or missing stock within the assigned area
  • Support measures to minimize stock loss
