Job Overview
Truworths Careers is seeking a dedicated Employee Relations Specialist to join our Employee Relations team at Head Office in Cape Town. This role is ideal for an IR professional with a passion for supporting fair and respectful treatment of employees while ensuring compliance with labour law, company policies, and values.
Role Purpose
As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will manage a broad spectrum of employee and labour relations matters, providing guidance to line management, supporting disciplinary and performance processes, and contributing to the development of IR policies and projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Investigate employee relations matters, prepare investigation reports, and recommend appropriate remedial actions
• Support and advise line management on handling poor performance and misconduct, including preparing and approving charges
• Assist with the preparation of disciplinary hearings and provide guidance to Chairpersons on letters of sanction and findings
• Support line managers in preparation for CCMA cases
• Provide guidance on compliance with Department of Employment and Labour inspections, including BCEA and OHSA
• Contribute to the development of IR policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Collaborate on various employee relations projects
• Manage the anonymous whistleblower process in accordance with relevant legislation
• Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual reports on employee relations statistics and trends
Qualifications and Experience
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Industrial Relations
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Employee Relations Specialist or HR Generalist with IR experience
• Experience in the retail or service sector is advantageous
