Job Overview
Truworths Careers is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team at Head Office in Cape Town. This role is ideal for professionals with retail and contracts experience who thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The Contracts Manager will oversee construction projects, manage budgets, and ensure all store developments meet company standards across South Africa and selected African countries.
Role Purpose
As a Contracts Manager, you will plan, manage, and execute retail construction projects, liaise with contractors and project teams, and provide strategic guidance on repairs, maintenance, and energy conservation initiatives. You will also support the export of shopfitting materials to other African markets, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, manage, and monitor project construction programmes
• Prepare and manage project budgets
• Ensure all stores are built to company standards and specifications
• Liaise with developers, contractors, and project teams to ensure projects are delivered according to agreed specifications
• Survey proposed new sites and provide feedback on leasehold work requirements
• Advise Divisions on major repairs and maintenance issues
• Support the exportation of shopfitting elements to relevant African countries
• Collaborate with external energy consultants and internal store operations teams on energy conservation initiatives
• Prepare reports for the Board and relevant committees on energy conservation initiatives
• Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
Qualifications and Experience
• Matric with relevant tertiary qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ recent experience in project management and contract administration
• Experience as a Quality Surveyor and Project Manager
• Experience liaising with contractors and managing retail projects, including shopfitting
• Knowledge of exporting and shipping shopfitting materials beyond South Africa
• Awareness of energy conservation options in the retail environment
• Retail project management experience across Africa is advantageous
