Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier on a fixed-term contract to support point-of-sale operations and deliver a world-class customer experience. The role involves accurately processing transactions, maintaining strict adherence to company policies, and ensuring a secure and efficient checkout process.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Good command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Job Specification

  • Follow all customer service policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management
  • Maintain required customer transaction turnaround times
  • Stay informed about current promotions and sales
  • Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
  • Apply company communication standards consistently
  • Manage and control cash flow responsibly
  • Ensure all voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
  • Process merchandise exchanges and authorised returns
  • Accurately handle all forms of payment including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
  • Process loyalty and rewards programme transactions
  • Secure cash in accordance with company procedures
  • Protect access codes and maintain confidentiality
  • Ensure all items are correctly scanned and paid for
  • Safeguard all cash within the till
  • Handle daily takings with confidentiality
  • Identify and report suspicious behaviour
  • Assist customers with product-related queries
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures
