About the Role

FlySafair is looking for a skilled and analytical Airport Operations Specialist to drive operational efficiency and ensure seamless airport performance. This role focuses on planning, coordination, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to maintain high service standards and regulatory compliance.

Job Description

• Develop and manage weekly operational plans, aligning staffing and equipment with business priorities and passenger demand forecasts;
• Identify potential operational constraints and implement proactive solutions to maintain service quality and compliance;
• Contribute to workforce and capacity planning to strengthen operational resilience;
• Manage relationships with third-party service providers and airport authorities, ensuring compliance with contracts, service-level agreements, and safety standards;
• Lead performance reviews with service providers, addressing gaps and driving continuous improvement;
• Collaborate with internal departments including Flight Operations, Technical, and Ground Handling to ensure alignment of activities;
• Act as delegated authority for the Base Manager when required, ensuring continuity, safety, and regulatory compliance;
• Provide leadership and guidance to operational staff, resolving escalated and complex issues;
• Represent the Base Manager in audits, inspections, and cross-functional operational meetings when necessary;
• Collect, analyse, and interpret operational data such as turnaround times, delays, incident reports, and performance metrics;
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor performance trends and real-time operations;
• Apply data analysis and visualisation techniques to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery;
• Support senior stakeholders with data-driven recommendations for operational strategy and resource allocation.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential);
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Data Analytics, Logistics, or a related field (Essential);
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in airport or airline operations, including at least 2 years in a specialist or supervisory role (Essential);
• Proven experience in managing third-party/vendor performance (Essential);
• Strong background in data analytics with a track record of improving operational performance (Essential);
• Knowledge of baggage and ramp handling procedures;
• Familiarity with IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM) and Ground Operations Manual (GOM);
• Understanding of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), safety standards, and maintenance requirements;
• Knowledge of SACAA regulations and airport operational standards;
• Familiarity with Airport Authority Operational Procedures Manual;
• Knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods regulations;
• Proficiency in data analysis tools, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
