Job Description
The Aircraft & Major Modules Records Specialist at FlySafair Careers is responsible for managing, inspecting, and controlling aircraft and major module records throughout their lifecycle. This role ensures full regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders during aircraft inductions, lease returns, and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and review all records for new aircraft and major modules entering the fleet
- Conduct record reviews in line with lease agreements and company requirements
- Compile and manage Open Item Listings and communicate discrepancies to relevant stakeholders
- Liaise with Legal and Asset Management during technical acceptance of aircraft and major modules
- Perform offsite inspections to review physical records and aircraft condition when required
- Support Certificate of Airworthiness inspection preparation for inducted aircraft
- Coordinate the lease return process for aircraft, engines, and major modules
- Work closely with maintenance planners to align induction, maintenance, and lease return requirements
- Coordinate physical record requirements with records administrators
- Manage annual lessor inspections and communicate operational requirements to maintenance planning teams
- Liaise with planning teams to schedule aircraft inductions and deliveries
- Compile and distribute work orders to MROs and ensure documentation accuracy
- Ensure all issued documentation is current and compliant
- Support asset management with documentation requirements during lease returns
- Capture ATLRs and component movements for aircraft joining the fleet
- Close and review MRO work orders upon completion of maintenance activities
- Update and control aircraft and major module logbooks
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and compliance
- Capture work order data and component movements from MRO documentation
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service and CRMA documentation following maintenance completion
- Create ad hoc work orders as required
- Ensure compliance with all ADs, SBs, EO’s, and ASBs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines
- Identify and report non-compliance and implement corrective actions
- Analyse stakeholder needs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Promote teamwork and collaborative working practices
- Assess, guide, and develop direct reports, providing specialist support and performance oversight
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- 8–12 years’ experience in aircraft planning or records management within a mid-sized organisation (essential)
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Willingness to work overtime as required
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
- Technical Diploma
- Aircraft type rating on aircraft operated by FlySafair
- Certificate in Maintenance Planning
- Experience working on Boeing 737 aircraft
