Job Description

Pepkor is seeking a dynamic Social Media Specialist to join our innovative marketing team. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy, self-motivated professional who will manage and grow our online presence, create engaging content, and strengthen connections with our digital community. The Social Media Specialist will work closely with Marketing and Customer Care teams to enhance brand visibility, ensure consistent communication, and drive engagement across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Manage organic and paid social campaigns, tracking KPIs and optimising performance.

Content Creation & Calendar Management

  • Create engaging content for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp.
  • Maintain a social media calendar to ensure consistent posting frequency.
  • Collaborate with designers and content creators to finalise campaigns.
  • Coordinate live coverage for events and campaigns as required.

Community Engagement & Customer Interaction

  • Respond promptly and professionally to comments, messages, and reviews.
  • Monitor sentiment, track customer feedback, and collaborate with Customer Care on FAQs.
  • Manage direct messages and bot interactions across social media channels.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Analyse key metrics (engagement, reach, sentiment) using analytics tools.
  • Provide reports and insights to guide campaign optimisation and strategy.
  • Support crisis communication with timely, strategic responses.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influencer Relations

  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Customer Care, and other teams to align social media initiatives.
  • Develop and manage influencer relationships to amplify campaigns and engagement.

Event Coverage & Content Innovation

  • Capture and produce content during social events to boost brand visibility.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and social media innovations to keep strategies current.

Additional Information

  • Travel may be required for events, content shoots, and influencer engagements.
  • Occasional after-hours work to manage campaigns and platforms.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role, preferably in Fintech or mass-market industries.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Excellent written communication skills for social posts, FAQs, and engagement.
  • Proficient in social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Brandwatch) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to contribute to content creation and campaign strategy with insights and innovative ideas.
