Job Description

Pepkor is seeking a results-driven Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and optimisation of innovative products within our Fintech ecosystem. This role is responsible for defining product vision, managing cross-functional teams, and delivering products that align with business objectives and market needs.

Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Product Strategy and Roadmaps

• Define and execute product strategies aligned with business goals and customer needs.
• Oversee creation and execution of detailed product roadmaps.
• Drive innovation by identifying and leveraging emerging market opportunities.

Cross-Functional Team Leadership

• Collaborate with design, engineering, and marketing teams to deliver high-quality products.
• Ensure all product initiatives comply with legal, financial, and regulatory standards.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development support to team members.

Product Lifecycle Management

• Manage products from concept through launch and post-launch optimisation.
• Make data-driven decisions to enhance features, functionality, and performance.
• Lead product launches to ensure alignment with business objectives and market readiness.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage with senior leadership to communicate product vision, strategy, and performance metrics.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and build strong organisational relationships.
• Present product updates and strategic initiatives to executives and key stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field, or relevant Product Management/Agile certifications (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM, Certified Scrum Product Owner).
• Preferred: Fintech-specific certifications such as Certified FinTech Professional (CFP).
• 5+ years’ experience in product management, leading cross-functional teams and product development initiatives in Fintech.
• 3+ years’ experience in financial services, with proven experience in banking or insurance product development.

Required Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Extensive experience managing complex product lifecycles and strategic initiatives in Fintech.
• Strong understanding of South African market dynamics, customer behaviour, and competitive landscape.
• Expertise in integrated Fintech ecosystems, APIs, and Swagger, with proven project management success.
• Demonstrated ability to drive product innovation, optimise performance, and align products with business objectives.
• Experience mentoring junior PMs and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Advantageous Knowledge & Experience

• Leading innovation initiatives and driving digital transformation in Fintech environments.
• Knowledge of global Fintech trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory frameworks (POPIA, FSCA, FICA, RICA).
• Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and influencing executive decision-making.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through major product pivots, mergers, or acquisitions.
