Forklift Technician – Purpose of the Role

The Forklift Technician is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with OEM standards. This role involves diagnosing faults, stripping and assembling components, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and supporting workshop operations through accurate documentation and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect forklifts and equipment for defects prior to commencing repairs
• Compile technical reports outlining repair requirements and scope of work
• Identify and list required spare parts for repairs
• Strip, clean, and assess components for wear or damage
• Reassemble components using new or serviceable parts
• Diagnose system and component failures, consult with the Team Leader or Workshop Foreman, and record findings on job cards
• Accurately document all tasks performed, parts used, and time spent on job cards
• Service and repair equipment in accordance with OEM specifications and service schedules
• Perform standby and after-hours breakdown support as required
• Maintain required productivity and efficiency standards
• Supervise, train, and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans
• Report unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to management
• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures at all times
• Assist with operational functions as required
• Maintain professional conduct and compliance with dress code standards
• Uphold daily housekeeping and health and safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience is advantageous
