DHL Vacancies – Supervisor : Inventory
At DHL Supply Chain South Africa, we are seeking a highly skilled Supervisor : Inventory to support the Heineken NewGold operation.
Job Purpose
The Supervisor : Inventory is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and reporting on all inventory-related activities. This role provides leadership, communication, training, and motivation to the inventory team while ensuring inventory integrity and minimizing contractual stock loss liabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure accurate inventory control in line with customer and DHL KPI requirements

Plan, manage, and execute all stock counts and inventory audits
-
Develop and maintain effective inventory processes using warehouse management systems
-
Produce accurate inventory KPI reports and recommend SOP improvements
-
Implement procedures to monitor, control, and minimize stock losses
-
Conduct daily reconciliations on storage types and ensure daily targets are achieved
-
Monitor all warehouse stock movements and report discrepancies or issues
-
Maintain continuous communication with operational teams

Train and develop inventory team members on inventory control procedures
-
Implement and maintain cycle counting and perpetual inventory processes
-
Understand and manage DHL stock loss contractual liabilities and mitigate risk
-
Produce timely and accurate management reports as required
-
Lead, manage, and motivate the inventory team across all operational shifts
-
Control budgeted hours and inventory-related operational costs
-
Create, publish, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
-
Attend and contribute to customer meetings when required
-
Support site continuous improvement initiatives
-
Submit accurate monthly inventory reports within required deadlines
-
Manage damages, expired, and obsolete stock within the warehouse
-
Oversee all inventory-related activities within site parameters
-
Manage recruitment, scheduling, and industrial relations in line with HR policies
-
Ensure damaged or expiring stock is removed from cages and orders
-
Authorize stock write-offs within approved limits and escalate where required

Proven experience working within budgetary constraints

Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, SAP)

Ability to coordinate staff and warehouse assets effectively

Knowledge of company products and warehouse operations

Ability to enforce health and safety standards and identify hazards

Strong understanding of customer requirements and service expectations

3–5 years’ experience in an inventory management environment
-
3–5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment
-
Knowledge of logistics market trends, challenges, and opportunities
-
General management and commercial experience
-
Experience applying strategic tools and techniques
Qualifications
-
Matric / Grade 12
-
Diploma in Inventory Management
Languages

English (verbal and written)
