Job Description
The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and governing technology solutions that support the objectives of a specific Portfolio within the broader Enterprise Architecture. Working closely with the Enterprise Architect, this role ensures that solution architectures are consistently implemented, integrated, and aligned with enterprise standards. The Solution Architect partners with Portfolio Managers and Functional Heads throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that architecture, design, and delivery meet business requirements and deliver measurable value.
Key Performance Areas
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across the project lifecycle to ensure solution architecture and delivery align with business objectives and value outcomes.
- Implement approved architectural principles, standards, and methodologies within the assigned Portfolio.
- Oversee and govern all systems and solution design activities within the Portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across technology teams and projects to ensure integration, consistency, and enterprise-wide coherence.
- Develop and maintain a Portfolio-level business capability map aligned with the enterprise business capability framework.
- Support the Enterprise Architect in defining and maintaining reference architectures that deliver required business capabilities at optimal cost and flexibility.
- Partner with Functional Heads across portfolios to roadmap and guide the implementation of reference architectures.
- Provide architectural input into strategic initiatives and projects to ensure scalable, sustainable solutions.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required by management.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Commercial Studies, or a related field.
- Recognised technology architecture qualification, such as TOGAF certification.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in technology design and implementation.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Solution Architect role.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture within a retail environment.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies and governance.
- Proven experience in digital strategy development, IT operations, and technology governance.
- In-depth knowledge of data technologies, including data governance tools, data platforms, and enterprise architecture principles.
