Key Performance Areas

Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to ensure efficient maintenance operations.
Lead, supervise, and motivate a maintenance team to achieve operational and service delivery targets.
Manage and allocate work to mechanical contractors in line with maintenance requirements and schedules.
Provide on-road support and coordination for vehicle breakdowns when required.
Analyse driver report sheets to identify mechanical issues and preventative maintenance needs.
Coordinate planned maintenance schedules and interventions to minimise downtime.
Manage unscheduled repairs and emergency breakdowns efficiently and cost-effectively.
Oversee fleet service and maintenance programmes to ensure compliance and optimal vehicle performance.
Manage workshop stock, administration, and overall facilities maintenance.
Diagnose mechanical failures and implement effective repair solutions.
Attend and contribute to safety meetings, maintain a safe working environment, and investigate departmental incidents.
Plan and manage maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer specifications and standards.
Respond to and resolve workshop-related queries timeously.
Monitor and control fuel levels in line with operational requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays, as operationally required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Matric certificate.
Qualified Diesel Mechanic trade qualification is essential.
Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
Previous supervisory or foreman experience within a workshop environment will be advantageous.
Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Teams.
Experience working on European vehicles, including MAN and Mercedes-Benz.
Proven experience with trailing equipment such as BPW, Jost, Thermo King refrigeration units, and tail lifts.
Ability to function effectively within internal and external team environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving ability with the capacity to work independently and under pressure.
