About the Program
The Product Manager will play a pivotal role within Pick n Pay’s Value-Added Services Division, which spans Financial Services, Value-Added Services, and Cellular. This division covers Banking, Lending, Insurance, Bill Payments, Prepaid Electricity, Ticketing, Gift Cards, Prepaid Airtime, Handsets, Accessories, and PnP Mobile, the company’s in-house MNVO.
As a Product Manager, you will lead the design, development, deployment, and management of customer-centric products, driving revenue and retail turnover. This role offers the agility and innovation of a dynamic division while providing cross-functional exposure across Marketing, Retail Operations, Information Systems, Commercial, and Finance.
Minimum Requirements
- Commercial or Financial degree, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification or higher
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product development or management
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Solid understanding of commercial contracts
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet research
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills
- Experience in value-added services products or retail is advantageous

Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product portfolio roadmap
- Develop competitive strategies for new market entrants in partnership with the HOD: Value-Added Services and strategic partners
- Identify customer behavior trends and link these to product pricing and features
- Serve as custodian of product knowledge, information, and cost centre management
- Ensure product value propositions integrate seamlessly with customer value propositions to drive acquisition and retention
- Maintain and update product and process documentation
- Monitor key product performance indicators and report on revenue leakage
- Implement new products or changes to existing products within the business
- Conduct annual reviews of products, pricing, and features to ensure competitiveness
- Monitor product performance, including targets, volumes, and revenue
- Set KPIs and steer committees with partners according to supplier management policy
- Collaborate with Marketing, agencies, and value-added service providers on focused campaigns
