About the Program:

As a Trainee Manager, you will support the Store Manager in protecting and growing profitable market share while ensuring alignment with the Store, Division, and Company strategy.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with at least 2 years retail management experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid ID or work permit
  • Strong accounting and administrative skills
  • Computer literate (basic)
  • Strong leadership and Human Resources skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Own transport and cell phone
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (OHSA)
  • Assist with managing non-compliance, damage, obsolete and slow-moving stock

Key Performance Areas:

Strategic Management

  • Support the Store Manager in developing and implementing the Store Business Plan
  • Ensure alignment with Company strategic initiatives

Market Growth & Sales

  • Assist in achieving market share growth and sales budgets by category
  • Promote customer loyalty programs and manage advertising distribution
  • Develop action plans to protect the market against competitors

Customer Service

  • Implement and monitor customer service strategy
  • Maintain customer audits above 95%
  • Support reliable delivery service and grow the VIC client base
  • Recommend range improvements and act on customer surveys

Asset Control: Stock & End Control

  • Manage shrinkage, PIC processes, stock movements, and wall-to-wall stock takes
  • Oversee customer returns, IBTs, and receiving
  • Analyze and implement store security measures

Asset Control: Cash & Fixed Assets

  • Manage debtors, petty cash, banking, cheques, and credit cards
  • Maintain and protect store racking, displays, signage, forklifts, generators, IT equipment, and safes

Human Resource Management

  • Support recruitment, induction, training, and development
  • Implement succession planning and career pathing
  • Manage manpower requirements and employee relations
  • Maintain open communication with staff through meetings and correspondence

Store Safety & Trading Standards

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and complete safety checklists
  • Appoint safety representatives and report incidents
  • Maintain housekeeping, merchandising standards, planograms, yard, and parking areas

Profitability & CB Way Compliance

  • Support achievement of operating income budgets
  • Implement corrective action plans where necessary
  • Ensure adherence to company audit benchmarks and controls
