PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Buyer (C4) will develop and execute a departmental buying strategy that delivers a balanced, commercially sound product range aligned to PEP Africa’s business objectives. This role leads product development from concept to in-store delivery, ensuring disciplined critical path management, quality assurance, cost control, margin optimisation, and a compelling range tailored to customer needs. All buying decisions must contribute positively to profitability and price positioning in line with departmental and business strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute the departmental product and marketing strategy
• Lead range development and sourcing from concept through to delivery
• Ensure quality assurance of approved ranges in line with critical path milestones
• Own and manage the critical path to ensure on-time delivery to market
• Analyse product and sales performance, provide insights, and resolve trading issues
• Manage Open-to-Buy and departmental budgets to achieve financial targets
• Build, manage, and evaluate supplier performance and compliance
• Manage PLM processes and all order-related administration
• Control product costs and deliver accurate cost reporting
• Manage pricing and margin performance with regular reporting and insights
• Define and support promotional strategy and visual merchandise intent and rollout
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and business initiatives as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Qualification in Fashion Design, Clothing and Textiles, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a fully-fledged Buyer
• Advanced computer literacy, including MS Office and Google Workspace
• Strong creative flair with attention to detail and analytical capability
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with strong people skills
• Willingness to travel extensively within Africa, as well as to China, the UK, the USA, and Europe
• Comfortable working with buying processes and systems
• Ability to operate independently with strong accountability
• South African citizenship
