Purpose of the Job
The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling Value Services, with a primary focus on Value Truck Rental, while cross-selling other services including Value Logistics, Linehaul, Value Equipment, Fridge Fleet, Freightpak, Warehousing, Clearing and Forwarding, Moving Billboards, and Express. The role aims to grow revenue, develop strong client relationships, and ensure service offerings meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Gather information on clients’ transport, distribution, and expenditure
- Evaluate potential opportunities and apply focus strategies (G, S, B)
- Understand competitors and market trends in your area
- Build and maintain strong relationships to establish customer trust
- Identify client service requirements and provide accurate quotes for Value Services
- Expand existing accounts by understanding client businesses and cross-selling Value services
- Close deals and pursue national accounts
- Maintain awareness of client contracts and ensure services remain relevant to their needs
- Understand client business operations to achieve revenue growth targets
- Maximise value in every client interaction, planning objectives for each visit
- Ensure service levels comply with Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain frequent contact with key business decision-makers
- Keep product knowledge current and up to date
- Identify and resolve client issues promptly, including invoice queries, claims, and PODs
- Maintain a professional image at all times
- Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures
- Submit accurate and timely sales reports
- Meet team expectations, budgets, and management goals
- Assist with additional tasks or duties as requested by management, aligned with organisational objectives
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Experience in a sales environment
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans
Skills Required
- Ability to apply a variety of sales techniques effectively
- Strong capability to assess customer needs within assigned territory
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills
- Understanding of risk management principles and ability to accept outcomes independently
