Job Overview
Truworths Careers invites creative and trend-driven professionals to join our in-house Fashion Studio as a Fashion Designer. The Fashion Studio sits at the heart of our Ladieswear, Menswear, and Kidswear brands, where global fashion insights are transformed into commercially successful collections. Trends are researched through international fashion fairs, trend institutes, and real-time market analysis from leading fashion capitals including the USA, UK, and Europe.
Role Purpose
As a Fashion Designer, you will interpret global fashion trends and translate them into innovative, brand-relevant designs. Your role will be to identify emerging colours, fabrics, silhouettes, and trims, and use this insight to shape future seasonal ranges across Truworths brands.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyse international fashion trends and apply them to upcoming seasonal collections
• Identify new and emerging colours, fabrics, styles, and trims aligned to brand identity
• Collaborate closely with Buyers, Planners, and Merchandise leadership to develop compelling product ranges
• Inspire and energise cross-functional teams with trend direction and design concepts
• Support the creation of exclusive, limited-quantity garments to maintain brand differentiation
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ design experience within a fashion retail or creative manufacturing environment
• Alternatively, proven experience as a Fashion Buyer with strong design capability and the ability to transition between buying and design roles
• Strong practical application of creative concepts in a commercial retail setting
Key Competencies
• Advanced design skills with strong product focus
• Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and CAD systems
• Strong trend interpretation and creative execution ability
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to translate creative vision into commercially viable fashion collections
